Wall Insulation:

If your home was built prior to 1974, there is a high likelihood that your home does not have any wall insulation. Fortunately, R-Pro has several solutions available to retro-fit your home with wall insulation.

Recommended R-Values:

Walls - R-13 Minimum

(Modern Building Codes R-20 Without Continuous Exterior Insulation)

"R-Pro went above and beyond all of my expectations"

Air Sealing

Uninsulated walls can contribute to a lot of air infiltration to a home. When a wall contains no insulation a stack effect is created allowing for warm air to rise through the empty wall cavities and escape the top of the building. By dense packing insulation such as fiberglass & cellulose a good air sealing ability is created in the wall assembly and it greatly reduces the overall air infiltration to the home.

Cellulose

Cellulose insulation is is a recycled paper based product. It can be blown into wall cavities. It typically has the lowest cost point of all insulation materials.

Available Products:

 - Blown Cellulose

 - Net & Blow (BIB)

Retrofit Applications: Drywall, Stucco, Wood, Aluminum, Vinyl, Shingles.

New Construction Applications: Net & Blow (BIB)

Strengths:

 - Good Thermal Resistance.

 - Reasonable Cost.

 - Fast & Safe Installation.

 - Can be injected (Dense Packed) into cavities.

Weaknesses:

 - Chemicals added for fire suppression.

 - Organic, Can support mold growth.

 - Dusty

 - Settles and deteriorates over time needing additional material added.

 - Settling/Deterioration can leave voids in top of cavities over time.

 - Can absorb moisture

Fiberglass

Fiberglass insulation is one of the most cost effective ways to insulate your walls. R-Pro uses only the highest grade Owens Corning fiberglass insulation available. R-Pro is also the only Owens Corning "Certified Energy Expert" in Central Ohio. That means we are the only company in this area that Owens Corning has the confidence in to offer you a full 10 year Owens Corning installation warranty!

Available Products:

 - Fiberglass Batts (Kraft, Un-Faced, Foil & Vinyl Faced)

 - Blown Fiberglass

 - Net & Blow (BIB)

Retrofit Applications: Drywall, Stucco, Wood, Aluminum, Vinyl, Shingles.

New Construction Applications: Net & Blow (BIB)

Strengths:

 - Inorganic, will not support mold growth.

 - High recycled material content.

 - Will not settle or deteriorate. It will last the life of the home.

 - Good Thermal Resistance.

 - Reasonable Cost.

 - Fast & Safe Installation.

 - Not Dusty

 - Can be injected (Dense Packed) into cavities.

Weaknesses:

 - Not an Air Barrier product. Requires good air sealing of structure before insulating or dense packing.

Spray Foam

Spray Foam has become increasingly popular due to its excellent thermal and air barrier properties. Spray foam is available in two primary types: Open Cell and Closed Cell.

Open Cell foam is spongy and offers excellent air barrier and R-Value per inch. The expansion rate is typically 180:1. Open Cell does not provide a vapor or moisture barrier. It's lower cost as compared to Closed Cell make it a good choice for above grade wall applications.

Closed Cell foam is a rigid product offering the highest R-Value per inch of all insulation products and also boasts thermal, ignition, air, moisture & Vapor barrier properties. Expansion rate is typically 30:1. Closed Cell is an excellent choice for all wall applications including below grade.

Available Products:

 - Open Cell

 - Closed Cell

Retrofit Applications: Requires Open Cavity.

New Construction Applications: Open Cavity.

Strengths:

 - Air Barrier

 - Inorganic, will not support mold growth.

 - Will not settle or deteriorate. It will last the life of the home.

 - Good Thermal Resistance.

 - Not Dusty

 - Can be used to eliminate problematic ventilation in cathedral ceilings, flat roofs and attics.

 - Closed cell can be used below grade on masonry walls and further provides water proofing abilities.

 - Highest performance on nearly any application.

Weaknesses:

 - Highest Cost.

 - Non-SPF trade workers recommended to vacate site during and for 24 hours after completion of application.
